Malaysian companies win big at WITSA, ASOCIO awards

Malaysian companies have picked up key awards at two recent industry events, with three companies honoured at the WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards in Taiwan and another four picking up Asia-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation awards.

Both award ceremonies were held in conjunction with the 21st World Congress on IT Summit 2017 in Taiwan.

Chin Chee Seong, National ICT Association of Malaysia (Pikom) chairman, says the wins reflect Malaysia’s ‘continued spirit of excellence and that local companies can compete with the best in the world’.

“These companies have pitted themselves against the best of the best and have done well,” Chin says.

Malaysian IT systems and solutions service provider Bestinet took out the Public Sector Award at the WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards for its foreign workers centralised management system.

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation took out Digital Opportunity Award for its eUsahawan project, while Raydar Research won the Innovative eHealth Solution award for its Semmel work.

Meanwhile the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Association awards saw IPAY88 named Outstanding ICT Company and Sin Chew Media Corporation named the Outstanding User Organisation.

Government-owned Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, which aims to help grow Malaysia into a global digital hub, won the award for Digital Government, for its Digital Free Trade Zone work.

Rounding out the Malaysin winners list was Eduspec, which took out the award for ICT Education.

Pikom says the awards achievements come on the back of a ‘highly productive’ industry trip to Taiwan, aimed at forging stronger business ties with Taiwan’s ICT sector to facilitate technology and knowledge transfer and foster networking and business matching opportunities.
